“Transformative Pedagogies and the Environment: Creative Agency through Contemporary Art and Design” authored by Marie Sierra and Kit Wise, explores the pivotal role of contemporary art and design in fostering transformative pedagogical practices that address environmental concerns. The book delves into how creative agency is cultivated through art and design practices, particularly in the context of tertiary education, to drive meaningful engagement with environmental issues.

Acknowledging the interdisciplinary nature of social change agendas, the chapters examine case studies that illustrate transformative pedagogies in action, embracing ecological imperatives through art and design. These case studies span diverse creative disciplines, including art, design, and architecture, and explore peer-to-peer learning environments within university education and the art and design professions.

Drawing on the experiences of practitioners who have developed and implemented pedagogical projects, the book highlights the significance of practice-based and practice-led research in creative disciplines. Contributors from Australia, the UK, and New Zealand share insights into innovative approaches to transformative pedagogy, offering valuable perspectives on the intersection of art, design, education, and environmental activism.
